What is Via Scientia

Mission

Via Scientia exists to make R&D cooperation simpler. A researcher in Australia collaborating with a company in Kenya, or a Japanese institute working with a research group in Argentina. Our dream and goal is that distance and the luck of having the right contacts don't decide who works with whom. Organizations already publish real evidence of what they can do, and we make sure that information doesn't sink or go stale online. It becomes curated, living intelligence for the research and innovation ecosystem.

What's available now in the test phase

  • Discovery—

Search the ecosystem by organization or capability, with evidence behind every result.

  • Guided Partner Shortlist—

Don't know where to start? Tell us about your research and challenges, and we'll propose a curated list of candidate organizations.

  • Follow—

After using Discovery, keep a search active for 30 days and get notified of new matches.

  • Qualified First Contact—

Already know who you want to contact? Ask us to make the first contact for you — directly, or starting from a Discovery result or a Guided Partner Shortlist list.

Evidence levels

Explicit

The organization states this capability directly — in their own materials, a public profile, or published work.

Equipment-based inference

Inferred from specific equipment the organization is known to operate, which requires this capability to use. Example: A lab's public equipment list includes a mass spectrometer — we infer capability in chemical or molecular analysis, even without that being stated outright.

Infrastructure-based inference

Inferred from broader infrastructure or facilities the organization maintains. Example: an institute is known to operate a cleanroom facility — we infer it likely supports microfabrication work, a capability typically tied to that kind of infrastructure.

Research-based inference

Inferred from published research output associated with the organization. Example: An organization has published research on CRISPR gene-editing techniques — we infer capability in genetic engineering.

How the data works

  • Every record comes from public sources — nothing is invented.
  • A rules-based crawler classifies it using the evidence hierarchy above.
  • A human reviews the result before it's published.
  • Via Scientia facilitates qualified initial connections — it doesn't guarantee a partnership will form.
